Our History
Riaz LLC is a firm incorporated in June 2009 by Mr Riaz Qayyum. Mr Riaz is a lawyer with 25 years of experience in various litigation matters. He specialises in Personal Injury area of law, in particular, an expert in road traffic accident matters.
Riaz LLC has successfully obtain compensation for clients in matters of varying complexities and high quantum. We pride ourselves in resolving matters expeditiously and in the best interest of our clients.
Our Lawyers
Riaz Qayyum
Mr Riaz graduated from National University of Singapore Faculty of Law in 1994 and was called as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Singapore in 1995.
He is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.
Over the last 25 years as a lawyer, he has done extensive work in many areas of law. He has appeared before the Magistrate and District Court, High Court, Family Justice Court and the Court of Appeal.
Notable cases include:
- Acted for accused persons in criminal cases where he has successfully submitted representations to reduce or withdraw charges, mitigated on clients behalf where they plead guilty and obtained acquittal at trial.
- Acted for clients in divorce cases including custody of children. And division of matrimonial assets in the high court and family court. In one case he successfully obtained a lifting of a Mareva injunction against a client assets obtained by the spouse.
- Acted for companies and individuals in building and construction claims.
- Acted for companies and individuals in commercial and civil claims.
- Acted for shareholders in company disputes.
- Acted for both buyer and seller in conveyancing matters.
- Acted for individuals in probate matters both contested and uncontested.
He now manages the firm which he has grown from just himself and one secretary to a firm with four lawyers and sixteen staff. He is now a valuable mentor to the next generation of lawyers and staff in the firm.
Ridhwan
Ridhwan graduated from the University of Leeds in 2013 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2015. Prior to joining Riaz LLC, Ridhwan trained and practiced in an insurance law firm as a defendant lawyer. In that line of work, he was exposed the defence side of motor accident, work injury compensation as well as public liability claims. The experience gives Ridhwan a unique perspective to the claims process as a plaintiff lawyer.
In addition, Ridhwan has acted for clients in criminal matters involving importation of drugs and road traffic offences. He was also part of the team which successful negotiated a discharge involving an intellectually disabled defendant who was charged for outrage of modesty offence.
Ridhwan has also successfully represented clients in divorce proceedings and assisted parties to reach an agreement on the proceedings through mediation.
Notable cases include:
- Assisting in the defence of the High Court dependency claim which features a claim for loss of inheritance;
- Conducted the defence in a matter where a golfer sustained injuries while golfing;
- Assisted in the defence of a CLAS matter involving grievous hurt
- Successfully negotiated a settlement a settlement of a fatal WICA claim involving a workman with blood alcohol content.
Vengadesh s/o Kumaravelu
Mr. Vengadesh graduated from Murdoch University in 2013 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2016. In the initial months of traineeship, Vengadesh was trained in criminal and family matters. He joined another law firm which exposed him to commercial civil litigation and road traffic accident and work injury compensation claims.
In 2022, Vengadesh joined Riaz LLC, bringing with him his vast experience and exposure in general litigation and dispute resolution. He has successfully undertaken and assisted in various contentious matters. He firmly subscribes to the belief that legal services are an entitlement that everyone should have access to.

- Successfully represented numerous clients in their personal injury claims at trial.

- Acted for individuals in bankruptcy applications.
- Acted for clients in divorce proceedings both contested and uncontested.
